Sharpsville sits just below the Shenango River Lake, and the properties nearest the reservoir and the river bottom grow tall, fast hardwoods in soft, often saturated ground. Those are the trees that lean, heave, and eventually come over in a wind event, usually taking a fence or a shed with them.
In the older part of the borough the housing is close-set with mature trees between the houses. We section and lower those instead of felling, and we grind the stumps out afterward so the yard is usable again.
This is a short run from our shop, so Sharpsville is one of the areas where we can get to storm damage quickly — hanging limbs, split trunks, and trees across driveways off Ridge Avenue and the roads toward the lake.
